Research Station: Winnowing Reach

A Well Earned Rest…

As Eliza leaves the party to secure rooms for the night at the local inn, the party explores Winnowing Reach. A sleepy guard gives rise to suspsicion from the party, especially Lucius, who admits to having been a previous tenant of the town gaol. To the party's surprise, the gaol is completely empty...a fact that would have changed had they managed to take any bandit prisoners.

The party settles in for a good night's rest at the Wrangler's Reach, courtesy of Eliza Pennygleam, after a bout of furious drinking by Leo, and slight sipping by Billingsley.

After a hearty breakfast of fried potatoes, the party engages in a bit of shopping in the town market. Amidst rows of stalls selling dried crickets, potatoes, and other crops and foods, they discover Eliza's temporary retail location, and she rewards them each with a single item.

While speaking with Eliza, the party finally notices their follower, a Vulpin woman named Phoe...er..."Lady Foxglove." Their introduction is cut short by town Magistrate, Walden Krane, who interrupts them in his search for his "niece," Kenna Brightspark, a researcher who seems to have wandered off to the Mokkden Caverns on her own.

After agreeing to search for Kenna in exchange for an easier introduction to the Birdfolk Council, the party finishes their "shopping," at the local bookbindery and apothecary. Yarrow and Lucius rob the apothecary of a healing potion while Billingsley buys a book, and Leo prays at the local shrine to Gesme.

Setting out into the swamp, the Chamber Made choose to travel the shorter, more dangerous path, and encounter a number of birdfolk skeletons for their trouble. After a half day's journey, they arrive at the nearest entrance to the caverns, and handily dispatch the slimes roaming outside.
