Arrival at Meadowfen

The Journey Begins

The journey began with our intrepid party answering a set of mysterious summons delivered in the form of various letters requesting their presence at the sleepy farming village of Meadowfen on the 1st Planning of Hanera's Providence in late Summer.

As introductions were made, a small Strig child requested the party's assistance in fixing their roof - a request which Billingsley, Lucius, and Yarrow undertook happily. With a combined effort of druidic magic and neurotic prestidigitation, the child's home was repaired and cleaned, and the party proceeded to the local tavern, The Bristle & Whistle for a well earned drink.

While Hildegard Bristle and Lillit Whistle served sea-grape wine and fried frogs legs, our intrepid adventurers discovered that they had each received a mysterious letter, all from an unknown organization naming itself The Chamber. As Lucius played his lute, an alarm bell rang...

Rushing to the town square, the party encountered Cara Stormsinger, captain of the local militia, staggering through the gates, bloodied and burnt. They quickly assisted her to the home of the local magistrate, Ardwyn. Cara's report was dire…The ominous smoke the residents of Meadowfen had seen rising from the northwest a week prior was the result of a great blaze spreading from The Scorched Grove, destroying the town entirely. To make matters worse, as Cara and her militia helped with the final stage of evacuation, they were set upon by members of The Bandit Coalition. Cara was the only known survivor.

Ardwyn entreated the party for aid, requesting that they travel to Alderheart and alert the Birdfolk Council to the spreading of the fires and heavy increase in bandit activity.

Digging through a local garden, Yarrow discovered a handful of healing herbs.

The party, now calling themselves Chamber Made thanks to their mysterious summons, readily agreed, and set off eastwards along the roadway.

As night set on their first day's journey, the group settled in to rest…save for Lucius, who cried out in his sleep. The next day, miles from Meadowfen, the party encountered an Eluran merchant, Eliza Pennygleam, being attacked by a group of bandits, led by a Vulpin captain, Fray Merridan. Refusing the bandits' demand for a "toll," the party handily defeated them to a man, taking one Mapach bandit prisoner. Despite their best efforts, however, Lucius was struck down. Thankfully, the grateful Eliza was able to restore him with one of her healing salves.

Eliza explained that she was traveling to Alderheart in order to re-open her dead sister's shop, and offered a reward for an escort.

Hot Winds

The remainder of the journey was not without its perils, however. A swirling cloud of what at first appeared to be fireflies raced towards them from the north, resolving into two swarms of Emberbats. The normally docile creatures nipped and flared, attacking relentlessly. Yarrow fell to their flames and fangs, but was revived.

With another swarm bearing down on them, the party raced as quickly as they could to the east, arriving at Winnowing Reach, a research station halfway between Meadowfen and Alderheart. At the checkpoint gate, to the party's dismay, a Perch Guard soldier pointed out that their unconscious captive bandit had been killed during their attack - a detail that had gone unnoticed. Eliza offered to pay for rooms for the night, and the party settled in for a long rest.

Meanwhile, an unknown entity watched them from the bushes, having stalked them quietly from the moment they met…
